The Well Dressed Groom || Bridal Stylist

Its not a secret that women love a well dressed man, can I get an amen ladies?  As a wedding stylist I watch style trends for both the bride & the groom and many of the bridal trends come fresh off the runway.

This wedding season I am head over heels in L-O-V-E with the fabric lapel flowers. These lovelies can be a fresh alternative for the groom & groomsmen than your typical boutonniere .  They are fresh, fun stylish and they can be customized in your wedding color palette or print, not to mention they can be used after the wedding!

Grooms would you consider rocking a fabric lapel flower on your wedding day?

Bridal Style || The Well Dressed Groom

Today bridal fashion is not just on the minds of brides, its also being thought about with many grooms whether some like to admit it or not.  Its important to select the right tuxedo or suit cut but its equally important to choose the perfect pair of shoes that compliment the overall grooms look for their wedding day.  If you are having a traditional or modern ceremony & reception I would advise going with a more dressier shoe & if your wedding theme is more casual, consider selecting a more casusal shoe even a sneaker if that's your style.

Most tuxedo shops will outfit you including shoes however if your style is for a more stylish shoe by all means its perfectly fine to rock your own shoes. This also allows you to purchase them ahead of time & break them in for maximum comfort before the wedding day.  This shows your character & will complete your look just as a bride has that IT Wedding Shoe....So should her Groom!

Beauty Junkie Confessions | YSL Beauty

I am a self diagnosed makeup & "product lover" (aka Junkie) so when I received a message that I was selected to review the YSL Influenster VIP Box I was thrilled.   I received the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer & Touche Eclat Blur Profector.

The box arrived & everything was package very well.   I am a lover of great packaging and YSL always knocks it out of the park with their mirrored gold packaging.

Inside the box there was an information card sharing the featured products that I would be reviewing.  The models were absolutely gorgeous, wouldn't you agree?

The first product that I reviewed was the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer.  I have combination skin but definitely oily in my t-zone & large pores on my nose.  The blur primer is a gel-fluid consistency that claims to blur out your imperfections & also gives your skin a radiant glow.  The gel primer to me had almost a silicone feel so it's extremely smooth + it has flecks of gold shimmer.  I am use to wearing a cream primer for the most part so this was very new for me.

The blur primer applied like butter which I was pleasantly surprised at just how smooth my skin felt after application.   What I did not care for particularly was the applicator.  I applied it to the back of my hand to warm up the product & then applied it with my fingers.  I allowed the primer to set for a few minutes and applied my normal foundation & the application was smooth as well!

I wanted to put the product to the test so I did wear it on a day where I knew I would be running errands and in & out of the heat.  It stood up to everything that it claimed.  I felt like my makeup looked flawless for the entire day & I was less oily even after 5 hours.

I highly recommend this product for brides especially if you have combination/oily skin and want a flawless foundation for your wedding day.  The YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer 1oz bottle is priced at $57.00 at Sephora and I think its worth the investment.  This would work great for a bride or just a busy professional woman that desires a flawless appearance to her foundation.

The next product I received to review was the Yves Saint Laurent  Touche Eclat Blur Perfector; Retail Price $55.00 at

I fell in love with the packaging for this product, its pink, gold & very shiny...something that every woman loves!  Lets be real ladies who would not like to pull out this lovely compact to refresh your face?  The blur perfector included a mirrored compact, cosmetic puff & a velvet YSL pouch to store the compact when not in use.   The overall packaging on this product definitely gets 5 stars in my opinion.....

Ok, lets talk about about the actual product.....I was extremely nervous when I opened the compact & saw a light pink "balm like" compact.  If you didn't know I am a brown girl so my first thought was "oh this is going to be interesting!"   The product claims to be a  "balm-powder" that acts like a transparent foundation & helps to minimize pores & smooths out complexion.

I personally used this product to touch-up my face after a few hours to control my shine.  My first time using the product I did not use the cosmetic puff because I didn't feel like it would work with the balm like consistency of the product.  I used a cosmetic sponge & I literally felt like I was wiping all of my makeup off with each swipe of the product.  So I wasn't feeling it at first to be completely honest.  However I tried the product for a second time & used a blotting application and it worked much better + I did not wipe off so much of my own foundation.   This is a product that you would definitely have to get use to the consistency but its a nice product.   Also being that it was a light pink color, it did come off translucent once applied to my face!

Again, as you can see the packaging is absolutely beautiful however overall I would give the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Perfector a 3.5/4.0 stars.  Its a product that you definitely have to get use to working with on the application.

However, I would recommend this to a bride for wedding day touch-ups through the day because #1 its not a powder formula so it would not appear cakey in pictures.  #2 its a balm like compact so it leaves no room for accidents in the compact breaking if you carry it in a clutch for the reception or even in the pockets of a wedding dress.  Most wedding dresses now have pockets made into them which makes it easier for brides to carry their favorite lippie or compact to refresh their face during the reception.

Have you tried any YSL cosmetic products?  Do share your favorites in the comments!!

Thank you Influenster for selecting me to review this VIP YSL Touche Eclat box & I look forward to reviewing more amazing products with my readers!

Fall Style Basics Must Have | Fall Style Inspiration

Fall is quickly approaching, in fact the first day of Fall is Saturday September 22nd...yes like a few days from today.  Depending on the part of the country that you live in, it probably still feels like Summer.  Here in Nashville the temperatures have been in the upper 90's pretty consistently the past few weeks.

If  you have been shopping over the past few months, most retailers have been stocking their stores with Fall Fashions since mid July.  This can be a blessing and a curse.  For those that went back to school this was the time to stock up on basics to start the school year.  However if you are not a student, or have students in your home you may feel like the stores may have jumped the gun, similar to going to Hobby Lobby in July and they have Christmas decorations fully stocked...Right?!

The early Fall in store transitions can work in the average shoppers favor because the typical store "life span" of certain items will be in stock for 6 weeks before they start to mark down/clearance out style pieces.  What that means is cheaper prices & you will also be able to shop the 2nd flow of Fall styles when the temperature finally does get a chill in the air.

8 Fall Style Basic Must Haves

  1. Crew neck t-shirt -  This is a wardrobe staple that should be refreshed every season, especially the colors white & black for sure. Crew necks make great layers pieces under blazers, transitional summer dresses & sweaters.   Tried & true staple colors to have in your closet are white, black, red, heather gray and a stripe color.  Good stores to shop for quality crew neck t-shirts are Target, Zara, Gap, Old Navy
  2. Collegiate Style Sweaters - These sweaters are definitely for the preppy at heart and can be paired with skinny jeans, khakis & even skirts.
  3. Long oversized cozy/fluffy sweaters - Cozy sweaters are my go to wardrobe staple because I am always cold.  The fluffy sweater can be styled with skinny jeans & even leggings.  (FYI:  I have a love hate relationship with leggings)  however structured leggings pass my style test.
  4. Accessory:  Thick Hoops - Whether gold or silver, a pair of thick hoops just boost any casual style look up a notch.  Good places to shop for hoops is H&M, Charming Charlie, Target and many other retailers.
  5. Skinny Jeans - You can never go wrong with a great fitting dark wash skinny jean. I would suggest a pair that is not distressed & also one pair of distressed for casual weekends.  Dark washed skinny jeans can be incorporated into your office attire when paired with a blazer on Casual Friday.  The distressed jean can be paired with the crew neck t-shirt & long cozy sweater!
  6. Blazers/Regular + Oversized - Great for the office, weekends with the girls & also date nights.  the oversized blazer can be paired with skinny jeans.  The oversized style blazer can be belted in order to create a waist line for your overall style.  I am personally on the hunt for a plaid and/or herringbone blazer for the Fall.
  7. Belts - a good belt adds structure and dimension to you style looks. Skinny, structured & wide style belts.
  8. Mules - My personally prefer embellished styles, but the classic mule is a good transition piece from Summer to Fall.
If you can tell the pattern with this list of 8 Must haves, they can all be paired together & work with other style pieces in your current closet.  The key is to maximize your wardrobe by mixing & matching new and existing wardrobe pieces.

Packing Made Simple for Business Trips + Honeymoon Travel

Lets face it, packing for anything can be a stressful and daunting undertaking.  Couple that with packing for your honeymoon...*insert physical meltdown here*.  You are checking the weather to know exactly what types of clothes to pack, you always over pack so that means that you run into weight restrictions when flying specific airlines.  Sound familiar?

As a Bridal Stylist I work with brides & grooms on their wedding day style but I also offer a service of honeymoon styling that includes packing assistance.   This helps to eliminate that added stress of "OMG I am getting married & Oh I also have to pack" for my honeymoon to this exotic or romantic honeymoon destination.

Smart packing is the key when packing for a long honeymoon vacation.  I love to compartmentalize my suitcase when traveling because it helps to save space & also keeps things organized should you have to remove something due to weight or for TSA to check your bag.

Here are a few of my favorite things to use when packing for long trips!

I absolutely love this Underwear pouch from MochiThings.  It keeps your unmentionables in a discreet pouch that is very convenient.  So even if you did have to be searched by TSA you are not mortified that all your underwear is out in plain view &  is not being handled by a total stranger.
This pouch would also make a great bridesmaids gift as well!

Another favorite are these Travel Vinyl Bags by Mochi Things  for liquids & wet items.  Sure you could use a simple plastic bag or even a cosmetic bag  but I love the fact that it keeps liquids contained.  There is nothing worse than opening your luggage after a flight only to discover that a perfume or foundation has exploded.

These Mochi Things medium mesh travel bags make packing & organization a breeze & again its all about creating compartments in your luggage.  As a rule always remember to roll your clothes while packing because it creates more space in your luggage.

Creates a very neatly package suitcase don't you think?

My final travel/packing essential is the Longchamp Le Pliage Folding Bag.  This bag is everything when you travel.  It can serve as your carry on bag (depending on the size), once at your destination it can become your daily travel bag.  The great thing about this bag is that it can easily fold up & be stored in your luggage when not in use!  Longchamp can be purchased online & also found at your better department stores like  Nordstrom.

What are some of your favorite ways to organize while traveling?  If you are interested in honeymoon styling services be sure to check out my website

Engagement Style | Why Hire a Bridal Stylist

I had the pleasure of styling Chelsea & Braden of Nashville for their engagement shoot that was in Antigua, Guatemala.  They were such a pleasure to work with and I must say even through the distance of the shoot their looks turned out amazing!

When planning your wedding & your engagement shoot style its important to select looks that are cohesive in color palette but also that complement your personal style as a couple.  With Chelsea and Braden they wanted their engagement pictures to reflect their personal style and to look natural.  I think we definitely achieved this with their engagement looks.

In shopping for their looks, we remained well within budget, shopped at stores that they loved  but also selected pieces that they can wear after the photoshoot is over.  There are many misconceptions of "Can I afford to hire aBridal Stylist for my wedding?"  You really can't afford NOT to hire a Bridal Stylist if you aren't very style savvy.  You want to look your best for your engagement & wedding photos because lets face it....we are in a social media driven society and you want to make a first & lasting impression for one of the most important days of your life as a couple.

Bridal styling can be as unique and personal as you would like it to be.  As a Bridal Stylist  I take the time to get to know my clients via style questionnaires & personal meetings to determine their personal style, overall wedding vision & also the vision that they may have for their engagement photos.  Its becoming very popular for couples to have destination engagement photoshoots as well as themed engagement shoots that capture the couples personality.

Working with a Bridal Stylist for your wedding and engagement style actually helps you to eliminate the stress of shopping for "the perfect look" for your special day.  In working with Chelsea & Braden they completed their style questionnaire and we shopped together for 4-5 looks for their destination engagement shoot in Antigua Guatemala.  Believe it or not we scored those looks in under 3 hours of weekend shopping which is nothing short of amazing!!  If shopping is not your favorite past time I can shop for you and schedule in home fittings for your engagement style looks!

I would urge every couple that is recently engaged to seek out the assistance of a Bridal Stylist for your engagement & bridal style needs.  You want your engagement & wedding memories to be flawless and memorable because these memories will last a lifetime.  Trust me your wedding photographer will actually thank you when you work with a Bridal Stylist because it actually helps their editing process because your styles are cohesive.  Having a cohesive color palette, personal style & shoot location for your engagement images helps in telling your love story.

Bridal Style Tip | Spanx Shapewear for the Bridal Party

Style Tip: Ladies no matter your size whether it’s 2-22 shapewear is a must have to create smooth lines in your clothing!

Brides this is especially important on your wedding day! Comfort is key, soooo don’t buy a new compression corset before your wedding & not wear it at least 2 weeks prior to your wedding day! The last thing we need is a Bride passing out from a ill-fitted corset!

Bridal Style || Favorite Things || Clutch Your Pearls

They are classic, timeless and make amazing bridal accessories for both the bride as well as bridesmaids.  Pearls can be used to dress up any bridal look whether you decide to wear a single strand or choose a statement bib necklace piece.  Today's stylish brides are embracing more chunky bridal accessories that will speak volumes when they enter make their grand entrance.

Style advice:  if you are a bride that wants to wear pearls, I would recommend that only 1 statement necklace be worn for the bridal party.  This could be worn by the bride or Maid or Matron of honor.

Be inspired by my love for pearls!
