Business Casual OOTD from Day to Evening | Shades of Orange

Style Inspiration | For the most part I dress business casual Monday - Friday,  but today I have day time appointments & also early evening.  This look takes me from day to night while still looking professional.

The brown & orange oxfords are my source of comfort for taking care of day time appointments.  The  leopard print heels for the evening add the mixed print aspect to the overall look of the day  & complement the color palette! For the daytime accessories, I chose a pop of color with a cobalt blue braided statement necklace & for the evening I incorporated sparkle with a rhinestone statement piece.

Orange is my power color it works best for my skin tone!

What is your power color?  What color makes you feel confident when you wear it?

New York Fashion Week Fall 2015 - Karen Walker

How do I explain my excitement just viewing the Fall 2015 RTW Collection  'Time Machine'  from Karen Walker.  She is one of my favorite designers for sunglasses & I am totally in love with this collection as it mixes vintage & modern which is always a winner in my opinion.  The black pantsuit is perfect for the office.

I love the exposed stitching, body prints, cognac leather & vintage vibe of the entire collection & lets not even mentioned the new sunglasses designs....This entire collection is for the woman that loves rocking vintage inspired designs.

Target is always on the cutting edge for their partnerships with major brands in the softlines/fashion industry.  As a former store executive & loyal shopper to this day, its exciting to see just what collab they will have next.

The Lilly Pulitzer partnership is going to be huge because of the loyal following that the brand has established over the years in resortwear & preppy fashions.

The First Step in Developing Your Personal Style - Closet Organization

We all want to look our best & project a polished look personally as well as professionally.  However many times its easy to become overwhelmed just by simply walking into your closet to pick out what you are going to wear each day.   Whether you are holding on to that one suit that you will be able to wear again if you lose those last 10 pounds or you are holding on to clothes from your undergrad years of college...lets face it we all could probably edit a few pieces out of our existing wardrobe.

One of my holy grail rules that I share with my clients who want to begin their personal style journey is that in order to bring new items in, we have to assess what you currently own, what fits, what complements your current body & what's on trend before we shop for any new pieces for your wardrobe which is what I call a closet analysis.  This rule helps so that you won't repurchase something that is already in the closet.

If you are not going to solicit the help of a stylist with your closet analysis & organization, I want to share of my top 5 questions to ask yourself when you are cleaning your closet.

  1. Have you worn this over the last year?
  2. Does it fit me?
  3. Would I currently purchase this brand new, if I were in the store now?
  4. Is the fabric faded, damaged, etc.
  5. Are you only keeping it for sentimental reasons?

When you have asked yourself those questions, that is when you have to figure out what to do with the clothes that are you clearing out of the closet.  My suggestion is create 3 piles:  Keep it, Toss it, Donate it!
Another option for the items you want to get rid of that are still in good condition would be a plan a Clothes Swap party with your girlfriends or family.  You set the limit on how many pieces everyone can bring, select a location for the party, add a few appetizers & cocktails & then its happy shopping without spending a dime!

What to Wear | Style Inspiration - 50 Shades of Gray | Monochromatic Style

Today's style inspiration of 50 Shades of Gray is definitely inspired by the upcoming movie premiere of the successful book series 50 Shades of Grey.  I know the books were somewhat of a taboo topic for some however I enjoyed the series and have already purchased my ticket to see the movie.  *Excited huh?*

Monochromatic looks are still very popular today & they work well for the office or other professional environments.  I especially love the look of basic colors such as white, black, browns & gray to create monochromatic styles.  Add additional character to monochromatic looks by accenting with patterned shoes, handbags and other accessories within the same color scheme.

Have you rocked a monochromatic look lately?  Are you planning to see the movie 50 Shades of Grey?
