Professional Style Basics: The Perfect White Blouse

If there is one wardrobe or closet staple that every woman should own hands down has to be a white blouse.   This blouse can be a classic button down and range up to a white wrap blouse.   Personally what I love about a good quality white blouse is that it allows you to be flexible with your looks and can be dressed up (with a skirt or slacks)  or dressed down (with denim).

Its also very easy to accessorize with a white blouse by incorporating a statement necklace or scarf for an added pop of color.

A few of my recommendations are:

Brooks Brothers Tailored Fit No Iron Blouse

Cache Classic White Wrap Blouse

J. Crew - Boyfriend Style Blouse

Classic Old Navy Button Down

Zara Poplin Blouse

One useful tip to remember in regards to cleaning,  Its a must to dry clean white blouses in order to keep them crisp however be sure to watch it because after several dry cleaning trips it can sometimes cause the blouse to have a yellow cast/tint.   I would recommended updating your white blouses at least once per year!

Style Tip: A Cape is Never a Bad Idea

Style Tip: If you work in a professional setting where suits are a must in the dress code. Add a cape to your outerwear closet. They are easier to rock instead of trying to stuff your suit jacket in your coat during the winter months.

Capes are cross functional & can be rocked with denim as well.

Weekend Style | Mixed Prints from Day to Evening

This week on The Stylish Professional was all about mixing fabrics and prints in a professional environment.  Today is Saturday and for many professionals is a day of rest of the 9-5 office work but for busy entrepreneurs it may also be a day of client meetings, networking or simply just a day of retail therapy for everyone.

This look allows you to be comfortable yet still look chic with a polka dot metallic + ruffle blouse, ripped boyfriend jeans + a statement leopard print clutch which could also be substituted for another animal print as well.

For the shoes, the flats will get you through the day of shopping  but the heels will take you into weekend client meetings or just lunch/dinner with your favorite guy or your girls!
Since this is the winter season feel free to throw on a khaki trench coat for added warmth.  Draping it over your shoulders would be an added style bonus!

This look can be easily adaptable in incorporating a floral print blouse with the animal print clutch or bag + solid color heels.
Easy simple style that looks like you put a lot of thought into it but its really effortless!!

Happy Saturday Stylish Pro's!

Professional Style | Tougher Than Leather | Style Tip Tuesday

Mixing fabrics & textiles is extremely popular right now with personal style.  Mixing fabrics or patterns can be tricky however a good rule to remember in the beginning is to mix a textured fabric with the smooth fabric or textile.

When mixing patterns a good rule to remember also it start with 2 patterns that share the same color scheme with your clothes & incorporate a solid contrasting color with your accessories (ie. handbag or shoes).

In this inspiration we are mixing a tweed blazer with a black leather pencil skirt.  The tweed blazer is modern yet still conservative for the office and pairing it with the leather pencil skirt incorporates a bit of an edge, the perfect combination!  I chose the black ankle strap heels because they will elongate the legs in the pencil skirt.

Are you comfortable with mixing fabrics & patterns?  Do share in the comments below!
