Professional Style | Product Review | YSL Beauty Black Opium Fragrance

I always get so excited when I receive @yslbeauty & Influenster Vox Box products in my mailbox to test + review.
I definitely have a signature(s) scent but I was up for trying something new. The Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium fragrance is sweet yet woodsy w/a hint of floral. It's very different from my signature scent but I LOVE IT! This scent is Definitely a must try for your next fragrance or just in time for the holidays add it to your Christmas list!

Personal Style | Staple Wardrobe Must Have for Fall 2015

Even though the official end of Summer is not until September 22nd, there is a switch that personally flips in my brain that its Fall once we celebrate Labor Day.  I can't be the only one?  I wanted to share a few quick transitional Fall Trends that you can start adding to your wardrobe now & possibly catch a few items by shopping end of the Summer sales.

Horizontal Stripes:  This is a tricky trend if you are plus size or "top heavy" because its always been a style faux pas to stay away from horizontal stripes because they make you appear larger.  However I am here to affirm you that you can rock horizontal stripes but I would suggest thin horizontal instead of thick stripes.

Shades of Grey:  You can never go wrong when you layer shades of grey for your personal or professional style.  I love mixed monochromatic colors for a more cohesive & pulled together style.  In my opinion Kim Kardashian does this very well!

Skinny Scarf:  This is a trend that will be very large this season & it will transition well from Summer - Winter.  This will all be based off of the material that the scarf is made.   The joy about skinny scarves are the various ways that you can tie them to create various looks!

Black & White Graphic T-shirts:  I am in love with graphic t-shirts lately, I wear them at least once per week & have learned to dress them up & dress them down.  Black & White graphic tees allow you to express your mood without even saying a word.  One of my favorite places outside of Etsy.com to purchase graphic t-shirts has to be Tees In The Trap.  I tend to recommend black, white(at times) or heather grey t-shirts for a more polished look.   I never purchased colored graphic t-shirts....like ever.

What transitional trends are you looking at for Fall 2015?  For personal styling be sure to contact me at www.OpulentCouturierStyle.com I would love to help you develop your personal & professional style.

Professional Style: Tailoring Makes The Difference

One of the biggest style mistakes that I see daily has to be people that don't tailor their clothes to fit their body.  Lets face it not all clothes will fit your body perfectly straight off the rack & that is were tailoring comes into play.  Speaking for myself I am fairly short, so I have to have my denim tailored to better fit my body for length.  I personally don't like to purchase petites because I love a little length (hang time) to go over my shoes.  Tailoring works well for basically anything but I especially love it for suits, shirts,  blazers, denim.

Recently I was doing some research for a Virtual Style Client located outside of the Nashville area & I ran across the service of zTailors  *Insert Jazz Hands*  zTailors is literally like the Uber or Netflix for Tailors.  In a nutshell zTailors are a network of Tailors in a variety of locations in the United States and they come to your home or office.  After visiting with you & reviewing the items you want tailored,  they will return your tailored items within a week!  Its just that simple!

At the moment Nashville does not have any Tailors utilizing zTailors but I have referred them in other cities!  So now that you know better you will do better!  Right...Right?!   Incorporate tailoring into your style budget when you are updating your wardrobe for Fall!

We are approaching Fall, and its the perfect time to start purging your closet to make room for Fall Style Trends!  Please contact me at www.OpulentCouturierStyle.com or Email me at TheStylishProfessional@gmail.com

#ProfessionalStyle | Product Review | Flawless Makeup Application for the Office

I am a self diagnosed makeup & "product lover" (aka Junkie) so when I received a message that I was selected to review the YSL Influenster VIP Box I was thrilled.   I received the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer & Touche Eclat Blur Profector.

The box arrived & everything was package very well.   I am a lover of great packaging and YSL always knocks it out of the park with their mirrored gold packaging.

Inside the box there was an information card sharing the featured products that I would be reviewing.  The models were absolutely gorgeous, wouldn't you agree?

The first product that I reviewed was the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer.  I have combination skin but definitely oily in my t-zone & large pores on my nose.  The blur primer is a gel-fluid consistency that claims to blur out your imperfections & also gives your skin a radiant glow.  The gel primer to me had almost a silicone feel so it's extremely smooth + it has flecks of gold shimmer.  I am use to wearing a cream primer for the most part so this was very new for me.

The blur primer applied like butter which I was pleasantly surprised at just how smooth my skin felt after application.   What I did not care for particularly was the applicator.  I applied it to the back of my hand to warm up the product & then applied it with my fingers.  I allowed the primer to set for a few minutes and applied my normal foundation & the application was smooth as well!

I wanted to put the product to the test so I did wear it on a day where I knew I would be running errands and in & out of the heat.  It stood up to everything that it claimed.  I felt like my makeup looked flawless for the entire day & I was less oily even after 5 hours.

I highly recommend this product for anyone if you have combination/oily skin and want a flawless foundation for the office and/or networking events.  The YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer 1oz bottle is priced at $57.00 at Sephora and I think its worth the investment.

The next product I received to review was the Yves Saint Laurent  Touche Eclat Blur Perfector; Retail Price $55.00 at Sephora.com

I fell in love with the packaging for this product, its pink, gold & very shiny...something that every woman loves!  Lets be real ladies who would not like to pull out this lovely compact to refresh your face?  The blur perfector included a mirrored compact, cosmetic puff & a velvet YSL pouch to store the compact when not in use.   The overall packaging on this product definitely gets 5 stars in my opinion.....

Ok, lets talk about about the actual product.....I was extremely nervous when I opened the compact & saw a light pink "balm like" compact.  If you didn't know I am a brown girl so my first thought was "oh this is going to be interesting!"   The product claims to be a  "balm-powder" that acts like a transparent foundation & helps to minimize pores & smooths out complexion.

I personally used this product to touch-up my face after a few hours to control my shine.  My first time using the product I did not use the cosmetic puff because I didn't feel like it would work with the balm like consistency of the product.  I used a cosmetic sponge & I literally felt like I was wiping all of my makeup off with each swipe of the product.  So I wasn't feeling it at first to be completely honest.  However I tried the product for a second time & used a blotting application and it worked much better + I did not wipe off so much of my own foundation.   This is a product that you would definitely have to get use to the consistency but its a nice product.   Also being that it was a light pink color, it did come off translucent once applied to my face!

Again, as you can see the packaging is absolutely beautiful however overall I would give the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Perfector a 3.5/4.0 stars.  Its a product that you definitely have to get use to working with on the application.

However, I would be less likely to recommend this to a busy professional woman  for  touch-ups through the day because #1 its not a powder formula so you have to think about the applications. Its still a good product BUT quick touch-ups between meetings...not so sure about.    #2 (A Win) its a balm like compact so it leaves no room for accidents in the compact breaking if you carry it in a briefcase for meetings or simply an after lunch refresher. This compact does leave with that "I have an Instagram filter" without the help of a camera look!  Funny but so true.  It really does blur imperfections.

Have you tried any YSL cosmetic products?  Do share your favorites in the comments!!

Thank you Influenster for selecting me to review this VIP YSL Touche Eclat box & I look forward to reviewing more amazing products with my readers!

Recap: Tiffany & Co. Nashville | Fun + Fashion Event

I had the opportunity to partner with Tiffany & Co. Nashville  at The Mall at Green Hills for their first ever in-store style event.  Fun + Fashion at T&Co. for an evening of fun, fashion & of course fine jewelry.  A group of Nashville Bloggers & Fashion Stylist were invited to show their style perspective based off of the 2015 Power of Style Trends with Elle Magazine & Tiffany & Company.

Each blogger selected a Style Solution based off of the Spring 2015 Style Trends; Bohemian Romance, Natural Explorer & Modern Graphic. These looks were based off of style, beauty & jewelry runway.   My selection was Modern Graphic which I was so excited to share my style perspective as it relates to my target client but also the current professional woman that loves to indulge in a luxury piece of Tiffany jewelry.  Every woman would love to indulge in a little T&Co. luxury...classic yet modern!

I chose a window pane style look because its extremely popular right now and is easy to transition from day to evening simply by adding a smoky eye or bold lip color for an evening look.  Very modern + graphic but still city chic in black & white.

I created the above 2 inspiration boards to share with my model Chelsea & also Tara of Capella's Salon + Spa in Mt. Juliet for hair & makeup of my style vision for the day.  I wanted my Modern Graphics style to show the young - middle age professional woman that loves a classic look for the office that could transition to happy hour or a girls night out +  also loves to indulge in jewelry & other fun Tiffany accessories.

All attendees of the event indulged in savory tiffany blue treats +  champagne...of course!

Feel free to search the Instagram hashtag #TCoNashvilleStyle for more images from the evening.

I am in love with the Tiffany blue leather tote + sunnies.  They were perfect for the look!

Pre judging selfie with Chelsea!

Looks:  Bohemian Romance, Natural Explorer & Modern Graphics.

Models:  the overall event was a style competition and although we did not win the competition, I am confident that I represented the Tiffany brand & also shared style options for my target client.

In love with this Tiffany T-Bar Cuff bracelet....You must check this piece out in person!

Chelsea & I both ended the evening celebrating with a little T&Co. love!!

Personal Style | Rose Gold is the New Gold?

I love sterling silver jewelry but recently I have started incorporating more rose gold accessories into my wardrobe. I love the overall look when paired with monochromatic styles/colors & also denim.  Rose Gold is the perfect alternative to rocking gold or silver!

Are you rocking rose gold this summer?

Weekend Style | Mixed Denim + Flower Accent Bag

Mixed denim is like the new normal when rocking any form of denim.  I chose to mix a faded denim blouse + a denim swing skirt.  My accent or conversation piece was definitely my vintage floral bag. I try to incorporate  a statement/conversation piece with all of my looks. This helps to start conversations  with strangers especially at networking events, while shopping or just simply out with friends.

Full outfit details:
Blouse:  Gap
Skirt: Talbots
Floral Bag:  Goodwill
Shoes:  Moschino
Watch:  Michael Kors
Bracelets:  Brown Monogram - Made w/monogram decals from Etsy  & Stud Bracelet: local boutique

How are you mixing denim this summer?

2015 Summer Beauty & Style Essentials

Being in the South I have a love hate relationship with Summertime.  I love being outside & enjoying the weather but I am not a fan of the heat and humidity.  Go Figure! These are a few of my favorite summer beauty + style essentials that I incorporate into my style sometime almost daily.

  1. China Glaze Lacquer Neons - I love neon nail polish for pedicures & not so much for manicures.  I love how my pedicures look rocking neons especially after a little sun on my feet!
  2. Nars Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 30.  My shade after a little time in the sun is Seychelles.  I love this product because it gives great coverage but without the weight of a liquid foundation.
  3. Iman Bronzers - Great for women of color with a variety of shades.  I don't always wear makeup so on the days I just want a little glow, I pop this on my cheeks & nose (for a strobing effect)
  4. Organix Weightless Hydrating Body Mist - This stuff is amazing for adding shine to your skin without the heaviness of a lotion.  Perfect right out of the shower.
  5. Bar Sunnies - very popular this summer and can be purchased both on the highend & low end pricing.  Pictured are Prada Acetate
  6.  NYX Butter Lip Gloss - my absolute favorite lippie they have great coverage, not sticky and they smell like cookies!
  7. Sam & Libby Sandals - I have these in black & silver and truthfully I did not think I would wear them as much as I do but they are versatile.  I have rocked them with maxi skirts to boyfriends jeans.
  8. Sheer Kimonos - What's not to love about these?  They compliment so many body types and they look great with skinny & boyfriend jeans as well as shorts.

What are some of your Summer favorite or essential items?  Comment below I would love to know!
